Science at Kingsley

Kingsley’s science curriculum is designed as a clear, continuous journey that begins in Early Years through the Understanding the World area, where children explore natural phenomena, materials, animals and seasonal change through play and observation. As pupils move into KS1 and KS2, science is taught through carefully sequenced topics that build secure scientific knowledge in line with the National Curriculum. Alongside this, children progressively develop their working scientifically skills—asking questions, investigating, recording and evaluating—so that by Upper Key Stage 2 they can carry out increasingly independent enquiries. Throughout all phases, key scientific vocabulary is explicitly taught and revisited to ensure pupils are confident, accurate communicators and well prepared for the terminology-rich science learning they will encounter at high school.
