Our School Dog

Monty is our School Dog

Children can benefit educationally and emotionally, increase their understanding of responsibility and develop empathy and nurturing skills through contact with a suitable calm dog. In addition to these benefits, children take great enjoyment from interaction with animals. The breed, Cockapoo, has been carefully selected as suitable for this type of environment. Monty is well cared for and responsibly owned by a staff member.

Monty and Covid-19:

Children will have own group bubbles and will adhere to social distancing within these bubbles. Monty is unable to maintain social distancing. Monty will be limited with space so he cannot wander freely among children. Children will have time with Monty in bubbles and he may change bubbles on a daily basis. Children will only be able to interact with Monty by touching/stroking back of the dog. Once a child has come into contact with him, they must wash hands after. Staff will be able to handle Monty as they feel fit providing they clean hands after coming into contact with him and regularly clean throughout the day.  Monty has an antibacterial spray called LUECillin Antiseptic Skincare. He is sprayed before and after entering a bubble.
