'The Highwayman' by Alfred Noyes
Class 6 have been studying 'The Highwayman' and have explored how the author, Alfred, Noyes, has used language for dramatic effect. This gave us the opportunity to explore how effective figurative and descriptive language can be used to create emotion and tension within a prose.
"The wind was a torrent of darkness amongst the gusty trees,
The moon was a ghostly galleon tossed upon cloudy seas,
The road was a ribbon of moonlight, over the purple moor..."
Class 6 then worked in groups using drama techniques to freeze frame an interpretation of a verse. This culminated in rehearsing the poem before coming together in a choral performance. Please see photos below.
