Sycamore 2022 - 2023

Hello Sycamore Class

What a super first term we have had! I have been blown away by how hard we have all worked and how well we have all settled into year 4. 

This next term is going to be equally as busy and equally as fun! 

In Literacy, we will be using the text Leon and the Place Between  to help develop or writing of recounts.  This book has some of the most stunning uses of illustrations that I have ever come across and is very mysterious. 

In Maths, we will continue with multiplying 3 single digits, moving swiftly on to exploring Roman Numerals.  Following this,  we will be developing our Addition and Subtraction skills using mental strategies and then more formal written methods. 

Year 4 is a busy year with lots to cover, so I must stress the importance of you keeping up your times table knowledge out of school. We only have a short period of time in school together to learn our times tables so it is vitally important that out of school you really push yourselves to learn as many times tables up to 12 x 12.

TT Rockstar, and in particular the 'Soundcheck' option will give you vital practice ready for the very special times table national test you shall be taking part in come June/July. You will have 25 questions and 6 seconds per question to complete on a computer. The more practice you put in, the better you will do on the day!

Outside of Maths and Literacy, all of our other activities/topics can be located on the school website under the 'Curriculum' tab of the website. This will give you details throughout the year. 

PE will be on Mondays and Thursdays so make sure you have the CORRECT PE it in for those days. Also make sure you have a set of outdoor learning clothes in daily as you never know when you might need them.
